NEW WESTON, Ohio (WKEF) — Two semi tractor trailers crashed and overturned on Sunday, the Darke Count Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called about 10:44 p.m. Oct. 20 to the intersection of U.S. Route 127 and State Route 705, near New Weston for an injury crash involving the semis.
Deputies said a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia hauling yogurt was traveling west on State Route 705 at U.S. 127. The Freightliner reportedly failed to yield the right of way to a 2013 Peterbilt 389 that was traveling north on U.S. 127, hauling eggs. The Peterbilt struck the trailer of the Freightliner causing both vehicles and trailers to overturn, deputies said.
The driver of the Peterbilt was identified as Kristopher Bahner, 25, of Lima. Bahner was extracted from the semi by mechanical means and was taken to Wayne Healthcare for injuries that were considered not life-threatening. The driver of the Freightliner was identified as Azamat Mukumov, 39, of Brooklyn, New York. Mukumov was taken to Wayne Healthcare for precautionary measures.
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, North Star Fire Department, and Ansonia Rescue also responded to the crash.
